A bit about me

Hi,  I'm Laura, I'm a qualified counsellor based in Bingley, West Yorkshire.  I offer in person, online and telephone counselling session on a weekly or flexible basis.

I adapt my counselling approach to meet your needs, using a number of ways of working depending on the issue we are talking about. This may include elements of how you relate and communicate with others, how your past impacts your present, CBT  and creative work.  I work with people experiencing many different difficulties in life, for example anxiety, family issues, grief and loss.

I work in a trauma informed approach, this means that I will acknowledge your experiences and reactions and see them as rational, normal, natural, proportionate and explainable.  I'll sit with you without judgement and give you space to explore and understand who you are and who you want to be.

Away from counselling, I try to make time for things I enjoy.  I love making things like knitting, painting and baking; I'm not always very good at it but I love to have a go.  My favourite place to be is by the sea or in a forest, nature has a real calming effect on me.  I also really enjoy catching up with friends and having a laugh over a coffee.  

 

I am also a mum and understand that the reality of parenting doesn't always match with the image we are sold.  Things don't go smoothly, things don't happen on time, kids don't always want to put their shoes on when you need them to!  It can be the little things as well as the big things that make being a parent or carer for children really hard work.
